Redundancy allows you to set up a backup CTL-Pro unit to take over if the main unit fails.
You will need two CTL-Pro units: one as the main and the other as the backup. Both units will share the same virtual IP address. If the main unit goes offline, the backup takes over within a minute, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
Connect both CTL-Pro units and update them to the latest firmware.
Assign each unit a unique AV IP address within the same range.
If using the Control port, assign each unit a unique Control IP address within the same range.
Control port does not support automatic DHCP.
Open the WebUI of the unit you want as the main unit and go to the Controller tab.
Scroll to Controller Redundancy section and enable Active Redundancy.
Set a virtual AV IP address that’s different from both CTL-Pro units but in the same range.
For example, if the main unit’s AV IP is 192.168.10.10
and the backup is 192.168.10.20
, you can set the virtual IP to 192.168.10.100
.
If you are not using the Control port, leave the virtual Control IP address empty. If you are using it, set a virtual Control IP address that’s different from both CTL-Pro units but in the same range.
Select the backup unit from the dropdown menu.
Click Apply & Reboot.
After this setup, you can access the CTL-Pro using the shared virtual IP. If the main unit fails, the backup will take over using the same virtual IP.
After a switchover, if the main unit comes back online, it won’t automatically take over from the backup. It will only take control if the backup goes offline.
The switchover takes about 1 minute, during which the WebUI will be unavailable.
Data is synchronized between the main and backup units every 5 minutes.
