Follow the steps below to troubleshoot audio and video issues on your Extender device. If the problem persists after completing these steps, reach out to technical support for assistance.
Power LED: Solid light indicates the device is properly powered.
Status LED: Flashing light means the device is operational and ready for use.
HDCP LED: Solid light indicates HDCP content is active.
Link LED: Solid light indicates a stable connection between the Transmitter and Receiver.
Cable Specifications: Verify the HDMI and CAT cable specifications for your device. To find your device specifications, visit the main WyreStorm website. For example, below are the characteristics of the EX-35-H2.
Try Different Cables: If issues persist, try using different CAT and HDMI cables to rule out cable-related problems.
Cat Cable Categories: Ensure you are using the correct category (e.g., Cat 6, Cat 6a, Cat 7). Using the right cable prevents signal loss and maintains performance over long distances.
HDMI Certification: Use certified 4K HDMI cables. Non-certified cables may cause flickering, poor performance, or intermittent connections.
Refer to the specifications page to confirm which power option applies to your device. These are all power options available:
1-Way PoH: Power goes in only one direction (e.g., TX powers RX or RX powers TX).
2-Way PoH: Power can be supplied in either direction (TX to RX or RX to TX).
Separate Power: In some cases, power needs to be applied to both the TX and RX units separately.
Source Devices: Let us know which source device you are using, along with its resolution and refresh rate. This helps us troubleshoot compatibility issues.
Display Model: Verify the model number of your display (e.g., TV, projector). This helps us troubleshoot compatibility issues.
To rule out complex issues, start with a simple test:
Set the laptop as the input device and configure the resolution to 1080p60.
Use a short, tested LAN cable (1-2 meters) to connect the TX and RX units.
Connect a regular TV or display as the output device (1080p or 4K).
Check if the image appears on the display.
Below is an example of a quick test connection diagram.
